New limited-edition Mini Countryman launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

Mini has launched a new series for the Countryman in South Africa, known as the Rugged Edition.

The Rugged Edition was made exclusively for our market, and will be limited to a run of just 100 units.

“The Mini Countryman Rugged Edition embodies the versatility and ‘can-do’ attitude that today’s adventurers expect from a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV),” said the company.

“Featuring unique design details and outdoor-oriented features, the variant celebrates individuality and exploration, reinforcing Mini South Africa’s commitment to offering a diverse range of premium, personality-driven mobility options.”

The new Countryman is available in three specifications with prices starting at R833,903.

Features

The limited-edition Mini’s appearance has been spruced up with new decorative bonnet stripes and a grill decal.

The new graphics, which were inspired by the mountain-like decals on the Countryman’s C pillar badge, are meant to give the Rugged Edition a distinctive presence out on the roads.

It also has a new set of 18-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels with a Frozen Midnight Grey finish, which are wrapped in all-terrain tyres.

The outdoor theme extends to the interior, which boasts new all-weather mats to protect the floor from the elements.

Owners also have the option to to customize their vehicle with two complimentary roof-mounted accessories from the Mini Original Accessories catalogue.

Depending on their lifestyle and travel needs, buyers can opt for either a roof box or a bicycle rack.

The Rugged Edition is offered in one of four colours, namely Nanuq White, Smokey Green, Melting Silver, and Legend Grey.

All of this is in addition to the fittings found on the standard Countryman, which include things like a keyless entry and start, a 240mm-wide HD central display, textile upholstery, a multifunction steering wheel,

It also has a Level 2 Driver Assistance suite with cruise control, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.

Engine

The Rugged Edition is offered in both C and S specifications.

This means the base C units are equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which sends 115kW and 240Nm to the front wheels.

This is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, resulting in an average fuel consumption of 6.3l/100km.

Upgrading to the S will grant access to a more powerful 2.0-litre turbo-petrol plant with 150kW and 300Nm.

This version features an ALL4 all-wheel-drive system, and has a slightly higher economy stat of 6.5l/100km.

The South African pricing for the new Mini Countryman Rugged Edition is as follows:

This includes a 2-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and a 5-year/100,000km maintenance plan.
