New special-edition bakkie and SUV for South Africa – Pricing and features
Ineos has announced that it is opening the order books for the 2026 Grenadier Black Edition, which will launch alongside the rest of this year’s line-up.
The Black Edition treatment, which is based on the Fieldmaster trim, will be available on all of the Grenadier variants, including the SUV and Quartermaster bakkie.
Ineos said this edition represents a distinctive addition to the Grenadier line-up for 2026, enhancing customers’ choice of pre-configured models.
Prices for the Black Edition start from R1,965,000, while the prices for the rest of the Ineos line-up will remain unchanged for 2026.
Performance
The entire Grenadier range is fitted with either a 3.0-litre turbo petrol or a 3.0-litre turbo diesel motor.
The petrol option makes the Grenadier one of the most-powerful bakkies on South Africa’s roads, producing 210kW and 450Nm, while the diesel produces 183kW and 550kW.
Fuel consumption for the diesel is slightly better, offering 9.3l/100km compared to the petrol motor’s 12.8l/100km usage.
An eight-speed automatic transmission distributes this power to all four wheels across the entire Grenadier range.
Driving and engineering upgrades for the 2026 line-up include an all-new steering box that features a variable ratio for the first time.
Ineos explained that a lower ratio around the central steering position results in a tighter, firmer feel to deliver more precision and greater responsiveness.
The firmer feel and greater responsiveness promise increased confidence in high-speed straight-line driving, lane changing, and overtaking.
Ineos left the ratio at each end of the steering gear unchanged, ensuring the Grenadier retains its off-road capability and performance.
Its turning circle has been reduced by around 5%, making the 4×4 more manoeuvrable on and off the road.
Features

The Black Edition promises to be the most identifiable in the Grenadier line-up, with an exclusive all-black body aesthetic and trim finishes that compliment its Inky Black paintjob.
Further exterior aesthetic upgrades include gloss black 18-inch allow wheels, a Dark Exterior Pack which includes a black grille and darkened skidplates, privacy glass and lockable spare wheel storage box.
On the inside, the black theme is continued, with dark headlining and carpet flooring.
All of the 2026 Grenadier offerings, including the Black Edition will feature further interior, driving, and safety improvements.
Firstly, climate control components have been upgraded to improve the performance and predictability of heating and cooling in the cabin.
In terms of driving and safety improvements, the Grenadier line-up’s advanced driver safety systems have been upgraded where required to meet the latest regulations.
“We’ve continuously enhanced and upgraded the Grenadier since its launch, but this is the most significant improvement so far,” declared Lynn Calder, CEO of Ineos.
“That means the 2026 models are the most rounded and most accomplished yet”
“It’s easier and more fun to enjoy every day and for every journey, it’s our best Grenadier yet, with enhanced appeal to an even broader range of customers.”
