New Citroën C3 launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

Citroën has officially launched the updated C3 in South Africa.

The Model Year 2026 (MY26) C3 has received a number of new features meant to further enhance its appeal to young professionals and first-time car buyers while maintaining an accessible price point.

Prices for the Citroën now start at R269,500, making it one of the most affordable crossovers in the country.

Features

The C3’s appearance is unchanged, but it has gained new standard features across the range.

It now has keyless entry and push-button start, cruise control with a speed limiter, and an electrochromic (auto-dimming) rearview mirror to reduce glare when driving at night.

This is in addition to the equipment already found on the previous C3, such as LED daytime running lights, a two-tone roof, a multifunction steering wheel, central locking, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto,

Notably, the MY26 C3 is offered in two “Max” specifications, meaning it also comes with alloy wheels, automatic air conditioning, and auto-folding side mirrors.

Citroën also highlighted that the crossover is built on a platform that received a four-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, and that the car features six airbags, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and ABS.

Engine

The C3 is available with one of two petrol engines, starting with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated block that produces 60kW and 115Nm.

This is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox, resulting in an average fuel economy of 5.6l/100km.

Alternatively, there is a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo mill with 81kW and 205Nm.

This version swaps the manual for a six-speed automatic shifter, though the added power means it has a higher consumption of 6.3l/100km.

Pricing

The South African pricing for the updated Citroën C3 is as follows:

  • Citroën C3 Max MT – R269,500
  • Citroën C3 Max Turbo AT – R311,500

This includes a 5-year/100,000km warranty and a 2-year / 30,000 km service plan.
