Cheaper Audi A3 launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

Audi has added a new entry-level model to the popular A3 series in South Africa.

The existing A3 range made its debut in 2025 with four derivatives: two Sportbacks (hatchbacks) and two sedans.

The cheapest of these units is the Sportback S Line Plus, which costs R808,200.

However, the German carmaker has added a new S Line trim to the roster, which is exclusively available in Sportback form with a price tag of R769,900, meaning it is R38,300 cheaper.

“The introduction of the Audi A3 Sportback S line forms part of Audi South Africa’s portfolio lifecycle strategy, aimed at making the A3 model range even more accessible and competitive to a broader range of customers who are interested in a premium compact A segment vehicle,” said the company

Engine

The new S Line retains the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol (TFSI) petrol engine as the rest of the A3 series.

This gives it a total of 110kW and 250Nm, which is sent to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

This lets the hatchback accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in a brisk 8.2 seconds, before capping out at a top speed of 219km/h.

It also has an average fuel consumption of 5.8l/100km.

Features

Positioned as the new entry point to the S Line range, the base A3 comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, a black Singleframe grille, and auto-folding side mirrors.

It also has keyless start and entry, a leather multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, six speakers, a panoramic sunroof, cloth Sports seats with lumbar support, ambient lighting, and automatic climate control.

The air vents have a finish, and the dashboard is fitted with a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an “Audi Virtual Cockpit” digital driver display.

The Sportback also comes with safety and assistance functions such as cruise control, six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring, traction control, hill assist, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, and a parking assistant.
