Limited edition Renault Kwid arrives in South Africa – Pricing and features

Renault in South Africa has pulled the covers off its 10th Anniversary Limited Edition of the popular Kwid compact SUV.

Two special edition models have joined the Kwid line-up – one manual and one automatic – to commemorate the ten years the Indian-built Kwid has been available in South Africa.

“In 2016, the Renault Kwid arrived in South Africa and changed the way many people thought about compact SUVs,” said Renault.

“Ten years later, the Kwid has become more than just a car on the road but has become a part of South African life, everyday car stories, milestones and moments of progress.”

Both specifications are already available at Renault dealerships nationwide, and thanks to vehicle specialists Duoporta, we know the 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Kwid (Kwid LE) has a starting price of R209,799.

Features

Commemorating the milestone, Renault has added special design features, exclusive accents, and a refreshed look to the Kwid LE, distinguishing it from the rest of the line-up.

“This special edition takes everything people love about the Kwid and elevates it with refreshed styling, exclusive detailing and features that make every drive feel special,” noted the French carmaker.

“It’s a modern take on an iconic car that is designed to stand out and created for drivers who live life with confidence and flair.”

To achieve this, Renault has made the Kwid LE available in two dual-tone colour options. The first is a fiery red with a “mystery black” roof, while the second is a shadow grey paired with the same black roof.

Adding to its distinct look is a bold yellow grille insert, as well as styled door decals featuring the same bright yellow accents.

Completing the overhauled exterior are shiny black covers for the Kwid LE’s 14-inch wheels.

When stepping in or out of the limited edition Kwid, the driver and passengers are greeted by “Kwid” puddle lights and illuminated scuff plates.

Inside, the bold yellow accents continue, with a leatherette steering wheel featuring stitching in “metal mustard”, a colour that features throughout the cabin, including around the Kwid LE’s MediaNav control centre, and seats

Engine

The Kwid LE is fitted with the same 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor as the rest of the line-up, and is, of course, available with either a five-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Either way, the motor is good for 50kW and 91Nm, allowing the compact SUV to maintain a frugal fuel consumption of only 4.9l/100km.
