New Jetour T1 plug-in hybrid launched in South Africa – Pricing and features
Jetour has officially launched the new T1 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in South Africa.
The T1 Adventure SUV and its sibling, the T2, have proven to be a massive hit with consumers, selling over 4,587 units in just six months.
The new PHEV, also known as the i-DM, has a starting price of R689,900, making it R30,000 more than the current top-spec model and positioning it as the flagship of the series.
“The introduction of our PHEV models is an important strategic step for Jetour as we continue to balance sustainable mobility with meaningful user value,” said Nic Campbell, Vice President of Jetour South Africa.
“In a market where energy costs continue to fluctuate, PHEVs offer real practical benefit by lowering fuel consumption and helping users reduce their day-to-day running costs”.
Powertrain
Unlike the rest of the T1 series, which uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the i-DM has a smaller 1.5-litre turbo-petrol mill.
However, this is coupled with an electric motor, giving it a combined output of 250kW and 530Nm.
For comparison, the non-hybrid models produce 180kW and 375Nm, meaning the plug-in is significantly more powerful.
The e-motor is powered by an 18.4kWh battery, which affords an all-electric driving range of 100km.
With a DC fast charger, it’s possible to top up the cells from 30% to 80% in under 30 minutes.
Assuming you make extensive use of the electric mode, Jetour claims that the SUV has an average fuel consumption of just 1.1l/100km.
It also claims that the T1 has a maximum range of 1,200km.
Features

Since the PHEV has top billing in the T1 lineup, you can expect an expansive equipment sheet.
The range-topping Jetour comes standard with automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and start, a leather multifunction steering wheel, artificial leather upholstery, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof.
It also has a wireless charging pad, a nine-speaker Sony stereo, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, and a 15.6-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety and assistance features on the Adventure SUV include adaptive cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, lane-keep assist, blind-spot detection, hill start assist, hill descent control, front and rear parking sensors, a 540-degree camera system, and six airbags.
