Updated Mazda 2 launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

Mazda has updated the Mazda 2 range for 2026, bringing new styling cues and additional features to strengthen the hatchback’s value proposition in South Africa.

“Building on the nameplate’s established appeal, the 2026 Mazda 2 enhances the everyday driving experience with thoughtful feature upgrades across the line-up,” said the company.

The hatchback series is available in three specifications, and prices start at R336,000.

Features

The Mazda 2 has three trim levels – the Active, Dynamic, and Individual – all of which benefit from this latest upgrade.

The biggest winner of the changes is the entry-level Active, which receives new features that were previously locked behind the higher specifications.

This includes a 7-inch infotainment screen with MZD Connect, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, as well as new 15-inch, two-tone wheels and power-folding side mirrors.

New yellow accents have been added to the front and rear, and the interior panel has received a new coloured finish to give the new models a more distinctive character.

The mid-range Dynamic, expands on this with new 15-inch Silver Metallic alloy wheels, side and curtain airbags, and a leather steering wheel.

As for the top-spec Individual, it adds smart keyless entry, automatic climate control, paddle shifters, a wireless charger, heads up display, 16-inch machined alloy wheels, and red interior accents.

Across the range, the Mazda 2 benefits from ABS, ISOFIX child seat mounts, dual front airbags, LED headlights, push-button start, all-electric windows, and electric stability control.

Engine

All three versions of the hatchback are powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.

This produces 85kW and 148Nm, which is sent down to the front wheels.

The Active has a six-speed manual gearbox, while the Dynamic and Individual feature a six-speed SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmission.

The manual has an average fuel consumption of 5.7l/100km, while the automatics use slightly more at 6.0l/100km.

Pricing

The South African pricing for the Mazda 2 series is as follows:

Each purchase comes with a 5-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, a 3-year/unlimited-kilometre service plan, and a 5-year roadside assistance plan.
