The pricing for the facelifted Isuzu D-Max has been revealed.
The D-Max, built at Isuzu’s Struandale assembly plant in the Eastern Cape, is one of the country’s most popular vehicles, selling thousands of units every month.
The current-generation units debuted in 2022, and the Japanese carmaker has finally decided to give the bakkie a makeover, overhauling the line-up in the process.
The updated models are on display at the NAMPO Harvest Day festival this week, and we can now confirm pricing thanks to our trusty sources at Duoporta Vehicle Information Specialists.
The D-Max will continue to be offered in single, extended, and double cab configurations with prices starting at R433,860, R533,690, and R574,010, respectively.
Time for an update
The updated D-Max series comprises 32 derivatives split across the three body styles, with seven single cabs, eight extended cabs, and 17 double cabs.
Notably, the halo-model AT35 is not included in the refreshed roster.
The facelift itself is fairly subtle with a reworked bonnet and grille, new headlights and LED taillights, and an updated selection of alloy wheels for each trim level.
The biggest change to the single cabs is that the entry-level LS has been replaced by a new “Low-Rider” option that costs R23,140 less than its predecessor.
The extended cab, meanwhile, has expanded from six to eight options with new 4×4 variants and three trim levels – the L, LS, and LSE.
As for the five-seaters, the range kicks off with the L, which is followed by the LS, LS X-Rider, LSE, and range-topping V-Cross.
The engine selection is unchanged, which means the D-Max can be had with either a 1.9-litre or 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine.
The 1.9-litre turbo-diesel (TD) units produce 100kW and 350Nm, while the 3.0-litre models have a higher power ceiling of 140kW and 450Nm.
Both engines can be paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox, though note that there is only a single 3.0-litre double-cab option with the manual.
Similarly, both powertrains and all three body styles are available with either a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or four-wheel-drive (4×4) system.
Fuel consumption ranges from 7.0l/100km for the base 1.9-litre RWD single cab, up to 8.1l/00km for the top-end 3.0-litre V-Cross 4×4.
