New Citroën C3 panel van goes on sale in South Africa – Pricing and features

Citroën has officially launched the new C3 Hola in South Africa.

The small crossover has been converted into a panel van, making it an affordable solution for businesses in need of compact transport options.

Crossover panel vans have taken off in South Africa over the last two years, following the loss of half-tonne bakkies like the Nissan NP200.

“South Africans made around 35 million more e-commerce purchases in 2024 than in 2019; and parcel volume is still compounding at double-digit rates,” said Mmathapelo Khumalo, Head of Citroën South Africa.

“Courier operators and SME fulfilment partners urgently need compact, fuel-efficient vehicles that are built to tackle urban traffic and narrow parking spaces.”

The Hola is available in a single specification with a starting price of R242,500.

Engine

The C3 Hola is equipped with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated PureTech petrol engine, which develops 60kW and 115Nm.

This is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, which sends power to the front wheels.

As a result, the Citroën achieves an average fuel consumption of 5.6l/100km, giving it a range of 804km on its 45-litre tank.

Features

To suit its light commercial vehicle needs, the C3 has ditched its rear seats in favour of a much larger cargo bay.

It has a flat, rubberised floor with netting, and a payload capacity of 386kg.

An integrated bulkhead separates the two front seats from the storage area, protecting occupants from loose objects, though load tie-down points are included for securing cargo.

The rear and rear-side windows have also been reinforced for added smash-and-grab protection.

The vehicle itself is 3,981mm long, and 1,733mm wide with a 2,540mm wheelbase, making it well-suited for tight turns on delivery routes.

Other equipment found on the Citroën includes LED daytime running lights, 15-inch wheels, a full-sized spare wheel, roof rails, a multifunction steering wheel, manual air conditioning, three USB ports, four speakers, a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, and a 10-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It also has six airbags, ABS, central locking, and rear parking sensors.

The South African pricing for the updated Citroën C3 series is as follows:
