Prices for the entire GWM Ora 5 line-up in South Africa have been revealed ahead of the crossover’s official launch next month.
TopAuto was alerted that one dealership had already listed prices for the soon-to-be-launched model, revealing prices for the internal combustion (ICE), hybrid (HEV), and battery-electric (BEV) models.
No fewer than eight models will be available at launch, with prices ranging from R364,900 for the Ora 5 1.5T Super Luxury, up to R599,900 for the Ora 5 Ultra Luxury BEV.
It must be noted that this line-up comprises both hatchback and crossover SUV models.
Ahead of the Ora 5’s arrival, GWM confirmed that its introduction forms part of the brand’s expansion in the highly competitive compact SUV segment, noting that the multiple powertrains reflect a growing demand for flexibility.
“The Ora 5 represents an important next step for the GWM brand in South Africa,” said Floyd Ramabulana, Head of Marketing at GWM South Africa.
“It gives customers the freedom to choose the vehicle configuration that best suits their lifestyle, while still enjoying the technology, design and practicality expected from a GWM compact SUV.”
What to expect

The compact SUV shares styling cues with its smaller, hatchback sibling, the Ora 3, upscaled slightly to match its crossover guise.
Design elements include rounded features and a slightly raised stance, as well as a wide range of exterior colour options for buyers to choose from, enabling great versatility depending on preference.
This, GWM said, will result in a vehicle designed to appeal to customers seeking something different from the traditional offerings in the segment.
Expected to mirror the models already on sale in China, the Ora 5 crossover models should be 4,471mm long and 1,833mm wide, with a 2,720mm wheelbase.
While its interior details remain under wraps, it is expected to feature a suite of connectivity and entertainment features – as has become the norm with new Chinese introductions.
These will all be controlled by GWM’s latest Coffee Operating System (OS) infotainment platform.
The Ora 5 will also be fitted with a range of advanced driver assistance and safety technologies (ADAS) designed to enhance driver awareness, confidence and everyday usability across a variety of driving environments.
In terms of performance, the ICE trims feature a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 105kW and 210Nm, coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power to the front wheels.
The HEV models will make use of a similar 1.5-litre turbo motor, coupled with a single, front-mounted electric motor to combine for 164kW and 476Nm.
Its BEV options are also fitted with a single electric motor producing 150kW and 260Nm, and a battery that enables a total driving range of up to 520km.
