New Chery Tiggo 8 Pro for South Africa – Pricing and features

Chery has updated its Tiggo 8 Pro series for South Africa, adding a new entry-level LS derivative that adds even more features to the popular seven-seater SUV.

The Chinese carmaker stated that the LS serves as the replacement for the previous base model, the Executive+, bringing fresh styling, improved tech, and new driver-assistance functions at a starting price of R499,900.

“The new Tiggo 8 Pro LS reflects Chery’s focus on giving South African families more comfort, more technology and more reassurance in a package that remains accessible,” said Verene Petersen, National Marketing Manager at Chery South Africa.

“Customers are increasingly looking for vehicles that make daily life easier, whether that is through intelligent safety, flexible space, modern connectivity or small convenience features that improve every journey. This trim level responds directly to those needs.”

What’s included

The new Tiggo 8 is equipped with the brand’s 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which generates a total of 137kW and 275Nm.

This is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, resulting in an average fuel consumption of 7.2l/100km.

Visually, the LS has been given a sportier front end and a new lighting suite with full-width LED tail lamps, automatic LED headlights, daytime running lights, and fog lights, all of which give the SUV a more contemporary appearance, according to the automaker.

Buyers can also choose from one of three exterior colours: New Khaki White, New Carbon Black and Tech Gray.

Inside, the Chery features dual 12.3-inch digital displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, the latter of which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and Intelligent voice commands.

The LS also has keyless entry and start, a multifunction steering wheel, a 50W wireless charger, front and rear USB ports, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

The front seats are electric with heating and ventilation functions. The driver’s seat also has four-way electric lumbar support with memory settings.

All of the seats are covered in synthetic leather, and the second and third rows have their own air conditioning.

Boot space is rated at 117 litres with all the seats up, which expands to 739 litres when the third row is folded. The boot can be accessed via a powered tailgate with a smart key function.

Each purchase comes with a 5-year/150,000km warranty, a 5-year/75,000km service plan, and a 10-year/1-million km engine warranty valid for the first owner.
