New Lepas L6 launched in South Africa – Pricing and features
Lepas has officially launched the new L6 in South Africa, adding a second option to its local catalogue.
The L6 is the brand’s new mid-range SUV, following the launch of the entry-level L4 crossover earlier this year. The L4 and L6 will eventually be joined by the flagship L8.
The new SUV is available in two specifications, the Javan and Pantera, and prices start at R479,900.
“The launch of the L6 is an important next step for Lepas in South Africa,” said Jay Jay Botes, General Manager of Lepas and Chery South Africa.
“The L4 introduced South Africans to Lepas, and the L6 builds on that foundation with more space, greater comfort and an even broader range of technology and safety features.”
“It gives us a stronger presence in the local SUV market and begins to show what customers can expect as the Lepas range continues to grow.”
Engine
The L6 is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that develops 108kW and 225Nm. This is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which connects to the front wheels.
Drivers can also choose between three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, which adjust the throttle response to focus on economy, a balanced drive, or sharper acceleration.
The SUV achieves an average fuel consumption of 7.2l/100km which, combined with a 51-litre tank, gives it a range of roughly 708km.
Features

The new Lepas follows the brand’s design language of a “hunting leopard” with sleek lines and a set of slim LED headlights and daytime running lights designed to look like a prowling cat.
The vehicle itself is 4,554mm long, 1,852mm wide, and 1,681mm tall, with a 2,700mm wheelbase. The boot offers 435 litres of luggage space, which increases to 1,255 litres when the back seats are folded.
It also has a separate 71-litre storage compartment beneath the load floor, ideal for hiding items that owners would rather keep out of sight. The roof rails can store another 75kg of luggage.
Equipment on the L6 starts with 19-inch alloy rims, automatic headlights, LED taillights, a rear spoiler, a dual exhaust, rain-sensing wipers, auto-folding heated side mirrors, a panoramic sunroof, and an electric tailgate.
It also comes standard with keyless entry and start, a multifunction steering wheel, faux leather upholstery, a six-way electronically adjustable driver’s seat and a four-way electric front passenger seat.
It has dual-zone climate control with rear vents, a heated and cooled armrest storage compartment, a 50W wireless charger, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with offline voice recognition, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety fittings include tyre pressure monitoring, hill assist, front and rear parking sensors, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot detection, lane change assist, and a 540-degree camera.
The top-spec Pantera will then add heated and ventilated front seats, an eight-speaker Sony stereo, ambient lighting, lane departure warning, emergency lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and forward collision warning.
Pricing
The South African pricing for the new Lepas L6 is as follows:
This includes 5-year/150,000km warranty and a 5-year/75,000km service plan.
Like all Chery brands, Lepas also includes a 10-year/1-million-kilometre engine warranty, though this is only valid for the first owner.
