New Hyundai Creta launched in South Africa – And it’s R45,000 cheaper

Hyundai has officially launched the new Creta in South Africa, making sweeping changes to its mid-range crossover SUV series.

The old Creta made its local debut back in 2022 with three models, the Premium Manual, Premium CVT, and the Executive CVT, which cost R449,900, R479,900, and R519,900, respectively.

Now, the lineup has been reduced to two models: the Premium CVT, and a sporty new N Line flagship with a more powerful engine and snappier gearbox.

Prices for the new Creta start at R434,900, meaning it is R45,000 cheaper than the equivalent outgoing model.

Engine

The new Creta is available with one of two different engines, depending on the trim level.

The first is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol block, which is found on the Premium and produces 84kW and 144Nm.

Power is sent to the front wheels via an “Intelligent Variable Transmission” (Hyundai’s version of a CVT), resulting in an average fuel consumption of 6.3l/100km.

The other option is a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol mill reserved for the N Line, which generates 117kW and 253Nm.

It is still front-wheel-drive; however, the N Line swaps the IVT for a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Features

Starting with the Premium, buyers can expect 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, LED daytime running lights, and auto-folding side mirrors.

It also has keyless entry and start, manual air conditioning, a multifunction steering wheel, artificial leather seats, USB charging, a 4.2-inch driver display, and an infotainment screen with voice commands, Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety and assistance functions include cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring, front and side curtain airbags, rear parking sensors, and a reversing camera.

As for the N Line, you can look forward to exclusive visual touches like a satin-black grille, LED headlights, 18-inch alloys, roof rails, a panoramic sunroof, and red-and-black interior trim.

Additional features on the flagship include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a six-speaker Bose stereo, automatic climate control, a wireless charger, and ventilated front seats.

It also has an expanded suite of driving aids, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, lane-keep assist, pre-collision avoidance, fatigue detection, hill-hold assist, and a 360-degree camera.

Pricing

The South African pricing for the new Hyundai Creta is as follows:

• Hyundai Creta 1.5 Premium – R434,900
• Hyundai Creta 1.5T N Line – R569,900

This includes a 7-year/200,000km warranty, a 4-year/60,000km service plan, and a 7-year/150,000km roadside assistance plan.
