New Ford Territory goes on sale in South Africa – Pricing and specifications

The new Ford Territory has finally reached South African showrooms after being confirmed for the local market all the way back in November 2023.
The five-seater SUV is available in three flavours comprising Ambiente, Trend, and Titanium with all variants driven by the same EcoBoost powertrain.
Prices start at R576,000 without a service plan, and R590,000 with the optional after-sales agreement included.
Territory specifications
The entry-level Territory Ambiente is delivered with all-round LED lights, 18-inch alloys, keyless entry and start, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, six speakers, a 7-inch digital driver’s display flanked by analogue gauges, a multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, rear parking sensors, ABS with emergency brake assist, hill-launch assist, hill-descent control, and six airbags.
The mid-range Trend specification further sees automatic headlamp activation, rain-sensing wipers, vinyl seat trimmings, a leatherette steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charger, a reverse camera, and an electronic tailgate.
At the top, the Titanium gains distinctive 19-inch wheels, chrome door handles, power-folding wing mirrors with puddle lamps, front parking sensors, full leather upholstery, electric front seats, a twin-panel panoramic moonroof, multi-colour ambient lighting, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and eight speakers.
The flagship also comes with Ford’s advanced assistance package that encompasses adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, lane-change assist, and traffic jam assist.
For added practicality, there are 20 storage spaces stashed around the inside of all Territory derivatives while the boot offers up to 448 litres of storage space, which grows to 1,422 litres with the rear seats collapsed.
All versions of the new Ford feature a 1.8-litre, turbocharged petrol engine under the hood boasting an output of 138kW and 318Nm.
Drive is handled by a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission that channels power exclusively to the front wheels, with four selectable drive modes on offer namely Normal, Eco, Mountain, and Sport which optimise power, torque, and fuel efficiency according to the driving conditions.
Ford South Africa has yet to provide the official fuel consumption and performance figures of this setup, but looking at other markets where the Territory is already on sale suggests its economy will fall somewhere in the vicinity of 7.0l/100km and its 0-100km/h time around nine seconds.
