The new Mercedes-Benz CLE that was unveiled in July last year is launching in South Africa soon at a starting price of R1,355,350.
The CLE is positioned as the replacement for both the C-Class and E-Class Coupes and will be sold exclusively in AMG Line trim level and with two drivetrain options.
The two-door Mercedes is going on sale before July with the high-octane AMG CLE 53 to follow in late 2024/early 2025, the German automaker’s domestic subsidiary previously confirmed to TopAuto.
What you get
The new CLE is delivered with 18-inch light-alloy wheels, LED headlights with high-beam assist, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry and start, a Sports steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather, Artico man-made leather upholstery, electric and heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, a reverse camera, active parking assist, active brake assist, and adaptive cruise control.
Drivers additionally get a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument binnacle with several content and display styles, while an 11.9-inch infotainment screen brings support for functions such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
At a length of 4,850mm, width of 2,042mm, and height of 1,423mm, the CLE is larger than the C-Class Sedan but smaller than the new E-Class Sedan – and it offers 420 litres of cargo room in the boot.
Under the hood, the CLE range boasts a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine assisted by 48V mild-hybrid technologies that aid with smoother acceleration and reduced fuel usage.
The CLE 200 twists the rear axle only whereas the 300 drives all four wheels via the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, and both models are equipped with a nine-speed automatic shifter and Sports suspension with selective damping.
