BMW’s annual M Fest is making its triumphant return to South Africa in 2024, promising a weekend of action-packed motoring fun.
The festival will take place at the Kyalami Gran Prix Circuit in Midrand, Gauteng, from the 24th to the 27th of October.
What to expect
BMW’s motoring festival last appeared in South Africa in 2022 after a three-year hiatus.
Thankfully, the wait is much shorter this time around as M Fest is making a comeback at South Africa’s most famous race track in the final quarter of this year.
The German automaker has yet to make any official announcements for the event, but it is already listed on the BMW Club Africa website with the date set for late October.
For better context, M Fest is BMW’s biggest calendar event of the year and is used as a platform to showcase its upcoming models to the media.
At the last get-together, BMW unveiled three different cars, including the M2 coupe, the limited-edition M4 CSL, and the all-new XM – an unprecedented hybrid super SUV that BMW created to compete with the likes of the Lamborghini Urus.
A few of the vehicles that could make an appearance this year include the new 1 Series, 3 Series, and M3, as well as the locally-produced next-gen X3.
However, the event is not just limited to the press as it is also an exciting prospect for the public, entailing three full days of motoring action from the fan-favourite brand that covers all manner of entertainment.
This includes a large vehicle gallery inside Kyalami’s main hall, showcasing a mix of old and new models from the blue-and-white badge’s long and varied history.
M Fest is not just for the older petrolheads, mind you, as there are video games, merchandise kiosks, live entertainment, and food stalls, making it a great day out for the whole family.
Visitors can even get hands-on with a few of the brand’s iconic M performance models around the handling track with an instructor, or witness professionals tearing about the main circuit on a variety of BMW cars and motorbikes.
In 2022, approximately 20,000 tickets were made available, which were quickly sold out before the event began.
The tickets for the 2024 BMW M Fest will go up closer to the event’s opening day on 24 October.
