Major carmaker launches WhatsApp “open line” for South African customers

Mazda Southern Africa (MSA) has launched a new WhatsApp and call-in number – 086 137 0134 – for its customers.

The company described the contact number as a “dedicated open line” that its patrons can use to get in contact with the new MSA head offices in Midrand, Gauteng – suggesting it’s suited for compliments, complaints, suggestions, and everything in between.

Commenting on the launch of the new number, MD of MSA Craig Roberts said: “Effective communication channels are the foundations for any brand to succeed, and our dedicated WhatsApp number is simply one part of Mazda’s ongoing efforts to simplify communication with our customers.”

New world, new Mazda

The introduction of the WhatsApp and call-in open line is part of MSA’s wider reshuffling of its South African operations and a repositioning of its brand.

“The past few years have seen a seismic shift in how companies operate and how the public interacts with their chosen brands,” said Roberts.

“For this reason, Mazda is undergoing another evolution that includes some brand repositioning and improved communication channels with its customers.”

As a result, the company is moving into a new South African headquarters situated in Hertford Office Park, Midrand that is specifically designed to provide an improved working environment for all its employees due to its central location, office design, and available amenities.

Along with the move to new premises, MSA is also incorporating hybrid working models for select workers who no longer need to be in the office every day to get their work done.

“We recognise that the traditional corporate office environment is no longer as effective as is required and no longer appeals to all employees,” said the head of MSA.

“In today’s world of instant and immediate demands on operations, MSA knows that employee well-being and work-life balance are essential for employees to deliver on their work objectives.”
