Range Rover this week announced a host of ultra-exclusive new variants for the top-end Sport SV, and the good news is that they’re coming to South Africa.
The new models form what is known as the Celestial Collection, consisting of five derivatives that each feature bespoke detailing themed around various motifs from Greek mythology and our solar system.
The Celestial Collection’s exclusivity is assured by a limited production run that is only available to handpicked clients, and South Africa has been allocated a total of five units – one from each curation.
One of a kind
Each of the five motorists lucky enough to get their hands on a Celestial model will be the owner of a one-of-a-kind Range Rover in South Africa.
At its core, each of the Celestials is based on the flagship Range Rover Sport SV, which is the most powerful vehicle ever produced by the company.
Under the hood is a 4.4-litre, twin-turbo, V8 petrol engine with mild-hybrid technologues, granting access to a total of 467kW and 750Nm – 44kW and 50Nm more than the previous generation.
The result is that the super SUV can sprint to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 290km/h.
The SV was already an elite product, but Range Rover has turned it up a notch with the new Celestial Collection adding a unique theme to each model inspired by the stars.
“Today’s discerning luxury clients are looking for more than just aesthetics – we want to create vehicles with which they form personal connections and bonds,” said Geraldine Ingham, Managing Director at Range Rover.
“The Celestial Collection from Range Rover Sport SV is an ethereal and unique collection of some of our most luxurious vehicles, each beautifully crafted and considered, for the clients who value meaning, spirituality, and storytelling.”
This is what you can expect from each of the five Range Rover Sport SV Celestial Collection units coming to South Africa.
Range Rover Sport SV Gaea Curation
The Gaea is inspired by the Greek mythological figure of the same name, who personifies the Earth.
The SUV features an exclusive slanted symbol representing a wave crashing against land, and the exterior is covered in a Green Terre Matte paint scheme.
It comes with Carbon Bronze ceramic brake calipers, a Satin Forged Carbon Fibre tailpipe, a Narvik Black roof and side mirrors, and intricate badges with a Graphite Atlas and Narvik Black finish.
The interior is available with two colour palettes, starting with Caraway Windsor leather seats, a Kvadrat steel-cut seat backboard, and Natural Brown Silver Birch wooden finishers.
The other option is a leather-free Ebony and Cinder Grey with a matching steering wheel and the same wood trim elements.
Range Rover Sport SV Theia Curation
The Theia is named after the Titan daughter of Uranus and Gaea and is associated with shimmering light.
To reflect this, this Range Rover’s symbol evokes images like a constellation and has a Gloss Black appearance.
Each seat is covered in Ebony and Ecru Windsor leather, though this can be swapped for Ebony and Pimento Windsor leather with additional Pimento contrast binding on the carpet mats.
There’s also a Kvadrat steel-cut seat backboard and a satin forged carbon fibre finisher in the centre console.
For the exterior, the colour choice is a warm-toned Ilmenite Grey Satin with a hint of metallic flakes – a look that is complemented by 23-inch forged wheels with a champagne gold finish and black carbon ceramic brake calipers.
Range Rover Sport SV Io Curation
This particular Sport SV is inspired by the most volcanically active body in our solar system, which is conveyed through a bright orange exterior.
It has an exposed contrasting carbon fibre gloss bonnet and twill carbon fibre gloss tailpipes, and the dark alloy wheels are contrasted against silver carbon ceramic brake calipers.
The interior is fitted with Ebony and Lunar Windsor leather with 3D knitted seats, and Satin Twill carbon fibre seat backboards and seat collar bezels.
Alternatively, clients can select an Ebony and Rosewood configuration with Rosewood leather paired with a Satin Twill Carbon Fibre finisher.
Range Rover Sport SV Vega Curation
The term Vega refers to an exceptionally bright star in the Lyra constellation with a lot of blue light in its spectrum, and is derived from an Arabic term that translates to “the descending eagle.”
To capture this, the Range Rover features a downward wing-like symbol, and its Verrier Blue colour sheme pays tribute to the French astronomer Urban La Verrier, who mathematically predicted the location of Neptune.
The exterior has an exposed carbon fibre twill gloss contrast bonnet, with the same finish being afforded to the exhaust, badges, and wheels – the latter of which also get Nano Yellow carbon ceramic brake calipers.
Inside, you’ll find light Ebony and Perlino leather seats, a Natural Cream Ash Burr finisher on the cupholders, and Ebony Kvadrat steel-cut seat backboards.
Customers can also opt for a darker, leather-free Raven Blue and Ebony option with a tonal stitch, Raven Blue carpet mats, and a darker Natural Black Birch finisher.
Range Rover Sport SV Sol Curation
Finally, there’s the sun-inspired Sport SV Sol, which is appropriately decked out in an Aurora Yellow exterior.
This curation features a Narvik Gloss black contrast roof and mirrors, Satin Forged Carbon exterior finishers and tailpipes, and black wheels with Blue Nebula carbon ceramic brake calipers.
The two interior options here are a Navy Windsor leather with Light Cloud contrast stitching and matching carpet mats; or a leather-free Ebony look with Nano-Yellow stitching and satin forged carbon fibre seat backboards.
