Toyota has officially launched the new Hilux Raider in South Africa with fresh looks and updated equipment.
The Raider straddles the gap between the utilitarian SR and flagship Legend models, offering buyers looking for a lifestyle double cab a better-equipped vehicle than the former but a more affordable option than the latter.
The facelifted mid-ranger is available in Xtra Cab and Double Cab body styles, with prices starting at R563,200 and R612,100, respectively.
Everything new
The mid-cycle refresh brought a number of stylistic upgrades to the Hilux Raider, with all derivatives being on the receiving end of a new honeycomb mesh grille, a revised front bumper, and newly designed fog lamp bezels.
At the rear, the bakkie now sports a black bumper and tailgate handle, whereas the pricier 2.8-litre models also come with black side mirrors and door handles.
Upgrades to the equipment sheet of the entry-level Raider 2.4GD-6 include electronic retractable mirrors.
The 2.8GD-6 additionally gets leather upholstery and eight-way electric seat adjustment for the driver’s side.
The pinnacle Raider 2.8GD-6 48V further adds auto up/down and jam protection features on all windows, smart entry and push-button start, and the Multi-Terrain Select system which includes settings that enhance wheel traction on off-road surfaces.
Engine options for the Raider are identical to before, with three diesel-powered drivetrains on the table in manual or automatic guises, as well as in 4×2 or 4×4.
