Hyundai has overhauled the Venue family in South Africa, bringing down the starting price while also cutting two models from the line-up.
Now, the crossover is available in five trims from a starting price of R309,900, reflecting a drop of R19,000.
The naming scheme has also been revised, with the previously used Motion and Fluid specifications now being called the Premium and Executive, in line with the Grand i10 and facelifted i20.
What you get
The three most affordable Venue models are powered by a 1.2-litre petrol motor with 61kW and 115Nm at its disposal, paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
The powertrain returns an average fuel spend of 6.5l/100km and allows the crossover to run from 0-100km/h in 14.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 158km/h.
Meanwhile, the two top-spec Venues boast a turbocharged 1.0-litre mill with a more considerable output of 88kW and 172Nm, with gear changes sorted by a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic box.
The improved grunt results in a slightly higher fuel usage of 6.9l/100km in mixed conditions, though it slashes the acceleration time to 11.4 seconds and increases top speed to 180km/h.
The new entry-level Venue Premium is delivered from the factory with 15-inch steel wheels decorated by plastic covers, a multifunction steering wheel, manual airconditioning, a touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, two airbags, and ABS with electronic brake-force distribution.
One tier above, the 1.2-litre Executive additionally comes with 15-inch alloy rims, roof rails, second-row aircon vents, and cloth/leather seating.
The 1.0-litre Executive builds on this with 16-inch alloys, hill-assist control, and an electronic stability programme – but it peculiarly does not get roof rails.
The flagship N Line is completed with automatic climate control, a sunroof, cruise control, an electric driver’s seat, artificial leather upholstery with red trims, six airbags, a drive mode selector with Eco, Normal, and Sport profiles, LED daytime running lights, 16-inch wheels, and a sporty body kit complemented by a vocal exhaust system.
