Jaguar is discontinuing 5 cars this year

Luxury British automaker Jaguar is putting five of the six vehicles in its current portfolio to pasture before the calendar clicks over to 2025.

The models on the chopping block include the E-Pace crossover, F-Type sports car, I-Pace electric SUV, and XE and XF sedans, a Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) spokesperson told Automotive News Europe.

Hence, next year, the F-Pace SUV will be the only Jaguar left on the market.

JLR said that the five vehicles being axed have “close to zero profitability” and are not helping the brand in its transition to an all-electric future.

Previously, JLR said it would be discontinuing its entire line-up by 2025, including the F-Pace, but it has backtracked on this statement by deciding to spare its biggest moneymaker in a bid to boost margins and profits.

“We are eliminating five products, all lower value,” said JLR CEO Adrian Mardell during an Investor Day on 19 June 2024.

“None of those are vehicles on which we made any money, so we are replacing them with new vehicles on newly designed architectures.”

The F-Pace accounts for approximately one-third of Jaguar’s global sales. Dropping the five margin eaters will raise the average selling price of Jaguar vehicles, said Mardell, which is currently pegged at just over £70,000 (R1.65 million).

The marque will unveil the first model built on its Jaguar Electrified Architecture – a four‑door electric GT “that promises to be a copy of nothing” – in 2025, with two more to follow thereafter.

Last-ever Jaguar F-Type

One down, four to go

The F-Type is the first victim of JLR’s green transformation, with the very last example of the two-door sports car rolling off the line this past June.

The final F-Type, a 5.0-litre V8 Convertible in Giola Green with a black roof and a Tan Windsor leather interior, will be handed over to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust and join its E‑Type predecessor in the official Jaguar Heritage collection for use in special events and activities in the future.

Jaguar marked the end of the production run with a series of special-edition models reserved for only the most esteemed collectors.

For the rest of us, Jaguar took it upon itself to preserve the glorious vocals of its V8 powerplants in the British Library for future generations to enjoy.

Mardell didn’t reveal when the E-Pace, I-Pace, XE, or XF will cease assembly, though it should be within the next six months with the remaining stock to run out in 2025.

Just like the F-Type, it’s more likely than not that these vehicles will be sent off with a curated selection of special-edition models.
