Jaguar South Africa has added a new supercharged V8 engine option to the F-Type range.
The new Jaguar F-Type is due to launch in the second half of 2021, and the V8 engine option will be available in three specifications.
The F-Type features a 1+1 cabin layout that is fitted with two 12-way electrically-adjustable “Slimline Performance” seats covered in Windsor leather, with a choice of two interior hues.
Premium materials and contrast stitching patterns flow from the doors onto the dash, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster gets a suede cloth wrap.
The whole range is then fitted with the Quiet Start function, which keeps the exhaust valves closed under low load to keep the V8 burble down.
From the outside, the F-Type’s lines are accentuated by the Black Pack styling option, as well as 20-inch wheels that are exclusive to this range.
It also gets Jaguar’s Adaptive Dynamics suspension system, and every vehicle can be bought in one of three metallic colours: Santorini Black, Eiger Grey, or Firenze Red.
V8 performance
The new 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 engine will be available in three guises in the F-Type.
In the P450-badged variant it will deliver 331kW of power and 580Nm of torque, which is good for a 0-100km/h time of 4.6 seconds and a top-speed of 285km/h.
The P450 Black Pack edition mirrors the performance of the non-black version, but adds exclusive interior and exterior design elements.
Both vehicles can be bought in either coupe or convertible body styles, and the option to have the drive sent to all four wheels or rear wheels only will be available.
The top-of-the-range model will then get the P575 badge, and produce 423kW of power and 700Nm of torque from the same motor.
This output will send the car to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds, while allowing an electronically-limited top speed of 300km/h.
This vehicle only has an all-wheel-drive option, though.
Regardless of nameplate, however, all F-Types get an eight-speed automatic transmission that offers full manual control using either the gear selector or the paddle shifters.
