The Mazda CX-30 has been updated for the South African market, with every model being on the receiving end of several new luxuries.
The range consists of four models – the Active Edition, Dynamic Edition, Carbon Edition, and Individual Edition – the most affordable of which retails for R531,800.
Everything new
The latest update cycle has added several amenities to all four variations of the CX-30 in a bid to increase the attractiveness of the crossover.
The base Active Edition now comes with a 10.25-inch infotainment display with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, as well as two USB-C ports as standard.
This is in addition to its pre-existing kit, which comprises automatic LED headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, 16-inch alloy wheels, push-button start, a leather multifunction steering wheel, a heads-up display, eight speakers, seven airbags, ABS with brake assist, hill-hold assist, and hill-launch assist.
Likewise, the Dynamic Edition was treated to new 18-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lights, front parking sensors, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.
This joins its other features, highlights of which are keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, paddle shifters, hill-descent control, rear parking sensors, and a reverse camera.
The penultimate model, the new Carbon Edition gains a sunroof and an electric tailgate.
The main selling point of the Carbon Edition is that it is the most stylish of the CX-30 siblings, and it therefore brings black metallic wheels, black mirror caps, black interior finishes, and red needlework on the seats.
Right at the top, the Individual Edition now boasts the same black metallic alloy wheels and black wing mirrors as the Carbon Edition, with its new fitments including suede and leatherette upholstery in a black/terracotta hue and rear cross-traffic alert.
The flagship also offers a few unique traits such as an electric driver’s seat, blind-spot monitoring, auto-dimming mirrors, and a Bose stereo with 12 speakers.
As before, the entire CX-30 family sources power from a 2.0-litre petrol mill generating 121kW and 213Nm, coupled with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The crossover is front-wheel drive only, with fuel consumption pegged at an average of 6.6l/100km and top speed at 196km/h.
