The new Peugeot 3008 SUV will be going on sale in South Africa this month.
The SUV has undergone a complete design refresh on the inside and out for the 2021 model.
The front gets a modern redesign with a frameless grille that “symbolises the move to more contemporary styling” – according to Peugeot.
Extended fins under the new LED headlamps connect all the elements, and the bonnet now features the model designation for the first time.
The GT model will get its own exclusive look at the front, but all models receive daytime-running lights, black side scoops, and a painted tread plate under the nose.
A “foggy mode” function in this model then replaces the fog lamps fitted to previous generations.
The fog lights are integrated into the new headlamps and will work in conjunction with the cluster to provide sufficient lighting at the front and rear when needed.
The GT variant gets 19-inch alloy wheels, while the rest of the line-up makes do with either 17-inch or 18-inch options.
The new i-Cockpit
Inside the latest 3008 you will find the new i-Cockpit.
This is the name that Peugeot has given to the latest iteration of their infotainment system.
The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is fully customisable and configurable, and the central touchscreen now spans the dash.
The latter features “toggle switches” that allow permanent access to the radio, air-conditioning, navigation, vehicle settings, telephone, mobile applications, and hazard warning lights.
The system also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and there is a wireless charging pad installed for smartphones.
“To underscore the modernisation of the i-Cockpit, the upgrade is reflected in the interior with new trims,” said the company.
At the top-end, the GT model is fitted with black Nappa leather upholstery, dark lime wood and chrome inserts, and a frameless rear-view mirror.
A selection of materials is made available to cover the seats in cheaper trims, while technologies are standardised across the board.
This includes the fitment of lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go.
A large selection of additional safety components are also fitted, but these are model specific and expanded on in the pricing and trims section below.
Power
In South Africa, the Peugeot 3008 will only be available with one engine option – a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor.
The motor connects to a six-speed automatic transmission no matter the trim, and develops 121kW of power and 240Nm of torque.
This combination allows the SUV to reach 100km/h in 8.9 seconds, while achieving a claimed combined fuel consumption of 7.0l/100km.
