New Jetour Dashing launched in South Africa – Pricing and specifications

The Chinese carmaker Jetour has officially launched in South Africa with two new vehicles, beginning with the Dashing SUV.

The Dashing serves as the entry point to the country’s latest auto brand with two variants starting at R439,900.

Features

The Dashing was designed by a former Porsche employee and features a multi-level slatted front grille flanked by split automatic LED headlights and daytime running lights.

The roof is curved to give it a coupe-like aesthetic, and there are seven colours to choose from – Onyx Black, Slate Grey, Arctic Blue, Forest Green, Ash Grey, Glacier White, and Crimson Red.

It clocks in at a length of 4,590mm, a width of 1,900mm, and a height of 1,685mm, making it a midsize SUV comparable to something like a VW Tiguan.

The Jetour’s line-up comprises two two trim levels known as the Momentum and the Deluxe.

The entry-level Momentum is fitted with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, auto-folding side mirrors, keyless entry and start, an electric tailgate, and driving modes for Sport and Eco.

Inside, you’ll find black synthetic leather upholstery with red stitching, a leather multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, a six-way electronically-adjustable driver’s seat, a front armrest with heating and cooling functions, automatic climate control with rear vents, a 40W wireless charger, four speakers, four USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a dual display consisting of two 10.25-inch screens for the driver and infotainment.

Safety and assistance components then include front and front-side airbags, tyre pressure monitoring, electronic stability control, traction control, ABS, hill assist, cruise control, rear parking sensors, and a reverse camera.

Upgrading to the Deluxe units will add heated side mirrors with welcome light projections, rain-sensing wipers, a panoramic sunroof with a shade, six speakers, eight-colour ambient lighting, side curtain airbags, blind spot detection, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera.

Engine

Both versions of the Dashing are bundled with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine – the same one that is found in the Omoda C5.

This powertrain generates a total of 115kW and 230Nm, which is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The SUV has a top speed of 180km/h, and consumes an average of 7.8l/100km.

Pricing

The South African pricing for the new Jetour Dashing is as follows:

  • Jetour Dashing 1.5T Momentum – R439,900
  • Jetour Dashing 1.5T Deluxe – R469,900

This includes a 5-year/150,000km warranty and a 5-year/60,000km service plan, with an additional 10-year/1-million kilometre engine warranty for the first owner.
