Audi Q3 gets new turbo-diesel engine in South Africa – Pricing and specifications

Audi has introduced the 35 TDI engine option to the popular Q3 series in South Africa, which up to now was only available in petrol guise.

The alternate powertrain is exclusively available on the Urban Edition and Black Edition models, expanding the range that was introduced to the crossover in May and March this year, respectively.

Specifications

The 35 TDI driveline consists of a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel motor which produces a total of 110kW and 340Nm, paired with Audi’s seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox which sends drive down to the front wheels.

As a result, the crossover can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 9.2 seconds before capping out at a max speed of 207km/h.

Furthermore, the diesel block provides a frugal fuel consumption return of just 4.9l/100km.

Features

Both the Urban and Black Edition units are distinguished by an exclusive feature list that elevates them above the standard Q3.

On the Urban Edition, this includes unique 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass sunroof, keyless entry and start, a rearview camera, an electric tailgate, and Parking Aid Plus which can detect a free parking space and park the car automatically using the myAudi smartphone app.

Alternatively, you can pick up the Black Edition, which gets all of the kit found on the Urban in addition to larger 19-inch alloys, electrically-adjustable Sports seats with heating, a flat-bottom Sports steering wheel, the Storage and Luggage compartment package, and the Black Styling package with a dark headliner alongside black exterior detailing.

All of this is on top of what’s included on the base Audi, such as LED headlights and daytime running lights, automatic climate control, an 8.8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 10 speakers, cruise control, rear parking sensors, tyre-pressure monitoring, and six airbags.
