The pricing for the new BMW M3 Sedan has been uncovered ahead of its launch in South Africa in the final quarter of 2024.
The high-performance car is breaking new ground in our market, as it will be the first time that the M3 is sold in both Sedan and Touring (Estate) body types.
Our sources at Duoporta Vehicle Information Specialists previously confirmed that the Touring will cost R2,218,506, and it has now been revealed that the slightly smaller sedan will ask customers to part with R2,198,002 when it arrives in South Africa.
What’s new
The upcoming M3 Sedan is powered by the brand’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine, which has been uprated to produce an additional 15kW.
As a result, the BMW is now packing 390kW and 650Nm, letting it sprint from 0-100km/h in a blistering 3.5 seconds.
South African buyers will also be happy to know that the local units will come standard with the M Driver’s package, which raises the electronically-limited top speed from 250km/h to 290km/h.
The M3 further benefits from the M Steptronic eight-speed automatic gearbox and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system with an active differential.
It comes with adaptive M suspension, too, complemented by M compound brakes, the M traction control system with 10 grip settings, and forged double-spoke alloy wheels that measure 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the back.
In terms of their design, the new M3 models are fitted with restyled Matrix LED headlights and arrowhead-shaped daytime running lights, while the manufacturer’s signature kidney grille is rocking an M-specific look with horizontal double bars.
There are new gloss black side skirts, flared wheel arches, and new front and rear aprons, and the sedan also features a carbon fibre roof that isn’t shared with the estate.
Inside, you’ll find a three-spoke M leather steering wheel with a red 12 o’clock marker, paddle shifters, and two M configuration buttons.
The cabin is decked out with carbon fibre inserts and red accents, and the Merino leather Sports seats have heating and electronic adjustment with memory settings as standard, with the option of four different colour schemes.
The dashboard’s centerpiece is a dual curved display consisting of a 14.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen.
Other equipment includes automatic climate control, nine-colour ambient lighting, a central storage compartment, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a wireless charger, cloud-based navigation, and a Harmon Kardon stereo.
Adding to this are the various safety and assistance items such as front and rear park distance control, adaptive cruise control with a Stop & Go function, front collision warning system, lane departure warning with lane return and steering assistance, automatic speed limit assist, traffic light detection, and Park Assist Plus for automated parking.
Track-oriented inclusions comprise an M lap timer and an M Drift Analyzer for drivers to monitor their performance.
Motorists will also be able to customize their M3 with a wide variety of extras including a heated Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, ventilated seats, a heads-up display, and bundles like the M Carbon Package, which adds wider front air intakes and carbon fibre mirror caps.
Another one is the M Race Track Package with M Carbon ceramic brakes and bucket seats that reduce weight by 25kg, or the M Performance Parts Package with forged alloy rims and branded floor mats.
All BMW models are sold with a 2-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty and a 5-year/100,000km maintenance plan.
The new BMW M3 Sedan and Touring are scheduled to go on sale in South Africa between October and December 2024.
