The pricing has finally been revealed for the new Chery Tiggo Cross, which is expected to launch in South Africa any day now.
According to our sources at Duoporta Vehicle Information Specialists, the new crossover will be sold in two variations with prices starting at R399,900.
This makes the Cross the second most affordable Chery in the country, splitting the difference between the Tiggo 4 Pro and the Tiggo 7 Pro.
Specifications
The Tiggo Cross is almost identically sized to the Tiggo 4 with the same length and width, but a slightly lower height of 1,652mm compared to the former’s 1,670mm.
However, while they may have similar proportions, the Cross sports a different look more akin to the Tiggo 7, with vertical daytime running lights, “triple element” LED headlights and an altered diamond-pattern grille.
Similar attention has been given to the back, as the crossover features a unique taillight bar that stretches across the boot door.
The new Cross is available in two trim levelsĀ – Comfort and Elite – both of which offer a generous spec sheet similar to what you’d find on the range-topping Tiggo 4.
On the base Comfort, this includes 17-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, auto-folding side mirrors, roof rails, keyless entry and start, a multifunction steering wheel, artificial leather upholstery, four USB ports, dual-zone climate control, six speakers, a pair of 10.25-inch screens for the driver and infotainment functions, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
The Cross also comes standard with cruise control, tyre-pressure monitoring, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and six airbags.
The top-spec Elite adds to this with larger 18-inch alloys, a sunroof, an electronically adjustable driver’s seat, and an expanded driver assistance list with lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera.
Both versions of the crossover are powered by the same 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine found in the Tiggo 4 Pro, which produces 108kW and 210Nm.
This powerplant is exclusively paired to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, resulting in an average fuel consumption of 6.5l/100km.
