R5.8-million Range Rover launched in South Africa – and only 7 are on offer

British marque Jaguar-Land Rover has launched the bespoke new Range Rover SV Onyx Edition in South Africa for a cool R5.8 million.

The luxury SUV boasts distinctive cosmetic details inside and out inspired by the “talismanic qualities” of semi-precious Black Onyx stone which is found naturally on the African continent.

The Onyx Edition is thus limited to just seven units offered exclusively to customers in Africa, and its unveiling marked the opening of the new Range Rover House South Africa situated at the foot of Table Mountain.

Range Rover SV Onyx Edition

The exterior of the new Range Rover SV Onyx Edition is clad with Bespoke Black body paint that extends to the mirror caps, complemented by a Corinthian Bronze contrast roof and Corinthian Bronze and Anthracite finishes.

The Range Rover badging is done with Corinthian Bronze surrounds and Narvik Black inserts, while sizeable 23-inch, diamond-turned alloy wheels in Dark Oblivion Grey with Corinthian Bronze inserts mounted in front of black brake callipers are also fitted.

Continuing inside, the cabin comes with unique Caraway and Ebony leather seats, scatter cushions, and interior surfaces, and the expansive chairs additionally feature ebony contrast stitching and Onyx Edition embroidery.

A set of “1 of 7” branded treadplates that signify the exclusivity of the Onyx Edition completes the look.

Standout amenities in the Range Rover include wireless device charging, an auto-folding load space cover, a powered gesture tailgate, the ClearSight rear-view mirror, four-zone climate control, and soft-close doors.

Driver assistance systems take the form of automatic emergency braking, blind-spot assist, a 3D surround-view camera system, adaptive cruise control with steering assist, park assist, lane-keep assist, and rear collision and traffic monitor.

The SUV also gets electronic air suspension as well as an electronic active differential with brake-based torque vectoring and adaptive off-road cruise control.

Range Rover House South Africa

The new Range Rover House South Africa provides exclusive access to the world of Range Rover for prospective customers, including a first glimpse at the latest models and special-edition Range Rover vehicles created for limited production.

It stands on a one-hectare private property in the prestigious suburb of Bishopscourt at the foot of the iconic Table Mountain and boasts trickling water features, lush greenery, soft sandstone, an onyx shower, and a full array of lifestyle amenities including a state-of-the-art games room and cinema, wine cellar and wellness spa, as well as crystal clear pools set in immaculate gardens.

“Range Rover House exemplifies the brand’s DNA, bringing true modern luxury to life through curated experiences, designed to stimulate the senses and to showcase the highly exclusive new Range Rover SV Onyx Edition,” said the automaker.
