More affordable Omoda C5 launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

Omoda has introduced the C5 Street to South Africa, arriving as the new entry-level option to the crossover family.

The Street undercuts the previous base model, the C5 Style which was launched in June, by a welcome R35,000 to achieve an even more palatable starting price of R329,900.

With the addition of the new model, the C5 line-up now extends across seven individual specifications.

What you get

The C5 Street forgoes several luxuries to attain its lower window sticker but is still rather generously equipped.

Stylish LED daytime running lights and 17-inch alloy wheels are fitted as standard, with the cabin receiving dual 10.25-inch screens for the driver and infotainment features.

Furthermore, the crossover boasts keyless entry and start, black cloth-trimmed sports seats, automatic climate control, a four-way adjustable multifunction steering wheel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, intelligent voice commands, four speakers, and four USB ports split between two in the front row and two in the rear.

Safety and assistance systems additionally comprise rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, cruise control, electronic stability control, dual front airbags, front side airbags, a speed limit reminder, and Isofix child-seat mounting points.

The C5 Street is propelled by a 1.5-litre, turbo-petrol motor good for 83kW and 138Nm – a significant reduction from the 115kW and 230Nm of its siblings.

Power is fed to the front axle via a continuously variable transmission resulting in a claimed fuel usage of 7.3l/100km.
