You can now send and receive packages at Engen petrol stations in South Africa

Major fuel retailer Engen has partnered with Pudo to offer patrons affordable, secure, and convenient parcel delivery options at its service stations across South Africa.

Pudo, short for pick up drop off, operates a network of smart lockers in the country that allows users to drop off and collect parcels on a 24/7 basis.

These smart lockers have already been rolled out at 40 Engen locations nationwide, with plans to expand coverage to its entire network of over 1,000 sites in the future.

“With this collaboration, we’re integrating innovative parcel drop-off and collection services into our retail network to meet the evolving needs of our customers,” says Enoch Hermanus, Engen General Manager of Retail.

“By combining convenience, affordability, and security, our partnership with pudo supports the growing e-commerce ecosystem and positions Engen as the go-to destination for motorists and shoppers alike.”

The Pudo partnership marks another major milestone for the company over the last year.

In 2024, Engen celebrated the opening of its 365th Café 365, keeping it on track to achieve its goal of 600 Café 365s across its service station network by 2025.

It also launched the 700th Quickshop & Co store, which offers a variety of groceries and everyday essentials, as well as the 100th Brazmata coffee bar.

“These achievements underscore Engen’s commitment to continually enhancing its product and service offerings to meet evolving customer needs,” said Hermanus.

How it works

To make use of the new Pudo smart lockers at Engen stations, customers must register their profiles on the Pudo website or download the App.

Once complete, users can book a locker by completing a waybill and selecting the box size, ranging from extra small to extra large, and they will receive a PIN code to access the locker.

With the PIN in hand, customers can visit their nearest Engen with a Pudo locker to drop off or collect their parcel. Online parcel tracking is also available.

Pricing for the service starts at R50, and customers can send items from locker to door, door to locker, or locker to locker, with delivery taking one to four working days.

“This affordable solution caters to diverse needs, including small home businesses, students, residents, banks, and retailers,” concludes Pudo.
