First-ever Mini Aceman – South African pricing and specifications

Mini has revealed the official pricing for the new Aceman in South Africa.
According to the company’s configurator, the electric crossover will be available in two specifications at launch, with prices starting at R800,000.
This makes it identical in price to the R802,000 Cooper SE and significantly cheaper than the R1,086,000 Countryman SE.
Powertrain
Unlike the Cooper and Countryman, the new Aceman is exclusively sold as an electric vehicle (EV) with two powertrain setups on offer.
Kicking things off is the Aceman E, which features a front-mounted electric motor producing 125kW and 290Nm.
This is paired with a 42.5kWh battery, giving the EV a driving range of 310km.
Alternatively, there’s the SE which benefits from a more powerful e-motor good for 160kW and 330Nm.
Combined with a larger 54.2kWh cell, the SE can travel for 406km between top-ups.
Speaking of, the Mini supports a standard 11kW AC charger, which can replenish the larger battery in approximately four hours and 15 minutes.
It can also accept a DC fast cable with a capacity of up to 95kW, which can achieve an 80% recharge in just 30 minutes.
Features
As its pricing implies, the Aceman splits the difference between the Cooper and Countryman in terms of size, measuring 4.07 metres long, 1.75 metres wide, and 1.5 metres tall.
It wears a lot of the same styling cues as its siblings with a closed-off octangular front grille, but has a unique LED headlight and daytime running light signature to set it apart.
The E also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, while the SE is upgraded to 19-inch rims.
The interior has all of the same hallmarks that we’ve come to expect from Mini, with a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel and 240mm-wide circular OLED screen in the centre for both the driver and infotainment systems.
It continues the brand’s sustainable materials trend with recycled polyester for the door linings, and a mix of textiles and Vescin (BMW’s vegan leather) for the seats.
There’s customisable ambient lighting, and the EV is fitted with automatic climate control, keyless entry and start, and a Harman Kardon stereo.
Buyers can also select their preferred style for their new car, starting with the Essential, which adds black and silver accents for the mirror caps, interior, and grille frame.
The Classic trim is fitted with perforated sports seats in a black-and-blue tone and gains a three-spoke steering wheel, and can optionally feature a contrast black or white roof.
Next is the Favoured option, which sees black-and-orange paint with “Dark Petrol” sports seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, and a storage box in the centre console.
The top of the pack is the John Cooper Works, which comes with a black-and-red colour scheme inside and out with a sports steering wheel, sports seats, and unique badges.
