Toyota Land Cruiser 300 updated for South Africa – Pricing

Toyota has quietly updated the Land Cruiser 300 (LC300) series for South Africa, adding even more features to its premium SUV.

The LC300 is available in five specifications, with prices starting at R1,512,100.

Features

The Land Cruiser’s appearance is unchanged, however, the company has added new equipment to every model in the lineup.

Starting with the base GX-R, the spec sheet now includes a wireless phone charger, an electro-chromatic rearview mirror, a USB port, and six speakers instead of four.

Additionally, it’s now equipped with the brand’s Multi-Terrain Select tool with five driving modes for Snow, Dirt, Rock, Mud, and Sand.

As for the ZX and GR-Sport, the changes are far more subtle, which isn’t too surprising given that these trim levels are much pricier to begin with.

The major addition to these units comes in the form of an upgrade for Toyota’s Safety Sense suite, which now features a pedestrian detection function for the emergency braking system.

Beyond this, buyers still have access to all of the standard kit already found on the LC300, such as keyless entry and start, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats with lumbar support, a leather multifunction steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Furthermore, the SUV is delivered with a driver assistance suite comprising a reverse camera, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, traction control, vehicle stability control, and hill-climb and descent control.

The ZX and GR-Sport also come with 14 speakers, a DVD player, onboard navigation, a heads-up display, a heated wood-and-leather steering wheel, 360-degree cameras, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency braking.

Anyone who grabs the GR-Sport can also expect various GR badges and a unique black-and-red colour scheme for the interior.

Engines

The engine selection is the same as before, meaning customers can choose between a petrol or diesel plant.

The diesel is a 3.3-litre turbocharged block producing 225kW and 700Nm, which consumes an average of 8.9l/100km.

Alternatively, there’s the 3.5-litre, turbo-petrol mill with 305kW and 650Nm on tap, which averages 12.1l/100km.

Regardless of the powertrain chosen, the Land Cruiser is fitted with a 10-speed automatic gearbox, which connects to all four wheels via a permanent four-wheel-drive system.

The South African pricing for the updated Toyota Land Cruiser 300 is as follows:
