New Hyundai 7-seater for South Africa – Pricing and specifications

The new Hyundai Alcazar will hit South African showrooms in early May, replacing the outgoing Grand Creta as the manufacturer’s most affordable seven-seater.

At launch, the Alcazar will be available in three flavours with prices starting at R499,900, according to our sources at Duoporta Vehicle Information Specialists.

What you get

The Alcazar can be had with one of the powertrains comprising a 2.0-litre, naturally aspirated petrol or a 1.5-litre, turbo-diesel.

The petrol is only available on the base Executive model and produces 117kW and 191Nm.

Meanwhile, the diesel is equipped to the mid-spec Executive and top-range Elite variants and generates 85kW and 250Nm.

Both power units are matched with a six-speed automatic transmission twisting the front wheels, resulting in a combined fuel usage of 7.5l/100km for the petrol and 5.9l/100km for the diesel.

The petrol makes up for its thirstiness by boasting a quicker 0-100km/h acceleration time of 10.4 seconds and top speed of 190km/h, versus the diesel’s 12.9 seconds and 171km/h.

Buyers of the new Alcazar can expect a decent amount of creature comforts, with the two Executive models offering automatic LED lights with daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, a leather multifunction steering wheel, artificial leather upholstery, cruise control, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and USB ports for all three rows.

This is in addition to a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, tyre-pressure monitoring, and six airbags.

The flagship Alcazar Elite gains climate control in place of the manual aircon of the Executive grades, as well as keyless entry and start, an electric driver seat, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and front parking sensors.

An advanced driver assistance suite is included, too, comprising adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and driver attention assist.

Boot capacity for the Alcazar is pegged at 180 litres with all seven seats up, 579 litres with the rear seats folded, and 1,670 litres in two-seater mode.

The SUV measures 4,560mm from nose to tail, 1,800mm from left to right, and 1,710mm from top to bottom, with ground clearance set at 200mm.
