New Isuzu 7-seater SUV launched in South Africa – Pricing and specifications

The updated Isuzu mu-X has landed in South Africa with fresh styling, a refined cabin, and a new flagship model.
The seven-seater SUV is now available from a starting price of R752,300, reflecting a premium of R8,000 over the outgoing model.
A total of six specifications are on offer covering three trim levels, two engines, and two drivetrains.
What’s new
The front of the mu-X has been completely overhauled for this mid-cycle update, wearing a new bumper, restyled grille, redesigned ISUZU badge, and sharper LED headlamp clusters with daytime running lights.
The foglamps have also been repositioned for improved visibility.
At the rear, updates include a revised bumper, a new tailgate design, the introduction of a mid-level spoiler, and new badging.
The new combination LED taillights are now also connected by a distinctive tailgate garnish that creates the impression of a full-width lightbar.
The alloy wheels have likewise been freshened up, now measuring 18 inches on the LS and LSE models and 20 inches on the flagship Onyx XT.
Two new paint options – Biarritz Blue and Eiger Grey Metallic – have also been added, bringing the colour palette to a total of eight options.
The new range-topping Onyx XT benefits from a raft of additional cosmetic fittings.
This includes a gloss black grille, metallic Light Magnetite bumpers, gloss black roof rails, and Onyx black side mirrors.
Gloss black door mouldings, a rear liftgate garnish, metallic Light Magnetite accent panels below the bumper, and bespoke “XT” badging add further visual impact.
The 20-inch wheels also boast a smoky clear coating to emphasise its sportiness.

Moving inside, the mu-X’s cabin has seen a thorough overhaul with a new dashboard, new colours for the doors and armrests, and reworked leather seat patterns.
The infotainment system has been upgraded to a high-resolution 9-inch display, featuring a piano black finish, two rotary dials, and five touch-sensitive switches.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility come as standard, with connectivity via USB or wirelessly through Bluetooth.
In a similar vein, the 7-inch driver’s display has been revamped, now sporting electroluminescent colours, gold graphics, and a newly sculpted binnacle.
Traditional analogue dials for the tachometer and fuel gauge remain, alongside an LED temperature gauge.
In terms of technologies, the LSE and Onyx XT have been fitted with a new 360-degree camera system, while the base LS retains the single reverse lens.
A customisable welcome function is now included, too, where unlocking the vehicle remotely illuminates the low beam and parking lamps.
Again, the Onyx XT sees a few extra nice-to-haves like exclusive red ambient lighting, red needlework on the seats, and a piano black steering wheel with metallic ornaments.
It also provides additional USB Type-C ports in the first and second rows for added convenience, as well as unique graphics in the instrument cluster.

The Isuzu SUV remains available with two turbo-diesel powertrains comprising either a 1.9-litre or a 3.0-litre block, both paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The 1.9-litre generates 110kW and 350Nm and is only available in the base 4×2 LS model.
Meanwhile, the 3.0-litre can be had in LS, LSE, or Onyx guise, generating a respectable 140kW and 450Nm.
This is sent to either the front or all four wheels, depending on the selected model.
