New Hyundai 7-seater SUV launched in South Africa – Pricing and features

Hyundai has officially launched the new Alcazar in South Africa at a starting price of R499,900.
The Alcazar is the replacement for the outgoing Grand Creta, making it the most affordable seven-seater SUV in the brand’s portfolio.
The family car is available in two specifications with a choice of two engines for the first trim level, resulting in a total of three different models.
Engines
The Alcazar can be had with one of two powertrains, starting with a 2.0-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol block.
This option delivers 117kW and 191Nm, and has an average fuel consumption of 7.5l/100km.
The second driveline consists of a 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel mill, which raises the power output to 85kW and 250Nm.
The diesel also has the added benefit of a lower fuel consumption, only using 5.9l/100km.
The Alcazar’s base trim level – the Executive – is available with either engine, but the range-topping Elite is only sold with the diesel motor.
Regardless of the drivetrain selected, the SUV uses a six-speed automatic gearbox to negotiate inputs down to the front wheels.
The Hyundai also comes with driving and terrain modes for Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud, and Sand.
Features

The Alcazar improves on the styling seen on the Grand Creta, adding new “H-style” LED daytime running lights connected by a central light bar.
It also has a larger grille with two-tone silver inserts, a faux rear bash plate, LED taillamps with a connecting light bar, and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Inside, there are aircon vents and USB ports for all three seat rows, which can fold flat to make it easier to load items.
With all the seats up, the boot can swallow 180 litres of luggage, which goes up to 579 litres with the first row folded, and 1,670 litres with two rows down.
Standard equipment across the range includes a leather multifunction steering wheel, artificial leather upholstery, manual air conditioning, cruise control, and a dual-screen digital display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
The Alcazar also benefits from safety and assistance fittings such as hill-start assist, hill-descent control, tyre-pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, and six airbags.
Naturally, the top-end Elite offers additional features including keyless entry and start, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, an electric driver seat, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and front parking sensors.
