Updated Kia Rio – South African models and pricing

The updated Kia Rio is available in South Africa and comes in four specifications – LS, LX, EX, and TEC.

Originally launched locally in 2017, the updated Rio features enhancements to its design and increased standard specifications across the range.

“With a refreshed design aesthetic and better infotainment and connectivity features, we have opted to build on the Rio’s key strengths and augment the inherent practicality and quality of the model,” said Kia.

Interior

All models of the updated Rio are equipped with a new 8-inch touchscreen interface, steering-wheel-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, as well as standard USB and auxiliary-in ports for front passengers.

The range revision of the Rio also sees an upgrade to the standard specifications on the LS model, and includes 15-inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning, electric windows and side mirrors, central locking, and an alarm and immobilizer.

The LX model of the Rio then receives a leather steering wheel and gear-shift lever, along with a new 4.2-inch LCD instrument cluster.

The TEC model sees the same upgrades as the LX, but takes them a step further with leather upholstery and alloy pedals.

Engine

The Rio comes two engine specifications:

  • 1.2-litre NA petrol – 61kW and 120Nm
  • 1.4-litre NA petrol – 73kW and 135Nm

The 1.2-litre Rio delivers its power through a five-speed manual transmission, while the 1.4-litre is paired to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
