Suzuki has achieved yet another sales milestone in South Africa, hitting a new record of more than 35,000 purchases.
The Japanese carmaker recently published its sales results for the first half of the 2025/2026 financial year, revealing that it sold a grant total of 35,597 units between 1 April and 30 September.
This is a new record for Suzuki, surpassing the number of cars sold in the first half of the 2024/2025 period by an impressive 7,338 units – a 25.9% increase.
“I am exceptionally proud of what our team at Suzuki Auto South Africa has achieved in the first half of the 2025/2026 financial year,” said Henno Havenga, GM of Auto Sales and Marketing at Suzuki.
“This milestone is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone in the organisation, and especially our 117-strong dealer network who represent the Suzuki brand with such genuine pride, passion and care.”
September was a particularly strong month with 6,072 sales, marking the third consecutive month Suzuki has exceeded 6,000 units.
Furthermore, it is the 10th straight month that the automaker finished as South Africa’s second best-selling car brand behind Toyota, putting it ahead of other local favourites like VW, Ford, and Hyundai.
A few standout models that helped to achieve this sum include the Swift with 2,265 units, the Fronx with 1,054 units, and the Ertiga with 765 units.
The first half of the 2025/2026 period also saw other milestones, as Suzuki welcomed its 300,000th customer in April, just 22 months after it reached 200,000th customers back in July 2023.
It also saw its highest-ever monthly dealer sales in July with 5,069 units, and an overall monthly sales record of 6,399 units in August.
Looking back over the six-month period, the Swift accounted for an impressive 11,599 purchases, while the Fronx and Ertiga moved 7,001 and 5,139 examples, respectively.
“These results encourage us to keep developing cars that deliver on our promise of quality, reliability and fun motoring, underpinned by trusted Japanese engineering,” said Havenga.
“Above all, we are grateful to our customers for the confidence they place in Suzuki – their trust is truly inspiring and drives us to keep improving.”
Suzuki – a two-time world record setter in South Africa

The carmaker recently set a world record in South Africa at the Suzuki Jimny Gathering and Suzuki Safari Town Festival in the Western Cape.
The company set a record for “the most cars to close their doors simultaneously,” thanks to the participation of 1,127 vehicles and their owners, who slammed 1,838 doors closed all at once.
This is not the first time Suzuki has done something like this, either, as it set a different record back in 2023 for “the most vehicles to switch their lights on simultaneously” with 787 Jimny models.
Both attempts were verified by representatives of the Guinness Book of World Records, and the achievements were capped off by festival activities and performances led by a variety of South African artists.
