Abarth F595 – A Formula 4-inspired special edition

Abarth has launched a new special-edition car, the F595.

“The new F595 is a concentration of racing design cues, and was created to provide both maximum performance and fun, but without sacrificing infotainment technologies,” said the company.

The Abarth F595 is now available in the United Kingdom at a starting price of £20,305 (R403,526).

Performance

Fitted with a 1.4-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder engine – on which the Formula 4 single-seater race car engine is based – the F595 produces 123kW and 230Nm.

This motor can be connected to either a manual gearbox or an optional 5-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters affixed behind the steering wheel.

A 0-100km/h sprint happens in 7.3 seconds for the manual version, and 7.4 seconds for the automatic version – with both being able to reach a top speed of 217km/h.

To help handle this power, Koni rear shock absorbers with Frequency Selective Damping technology are fitted as standard.

Design

“Rally Blue” design cues are present on the car – with the mirrors, as well as the front and rear bumpers – bearing the colour.

Helping enhance the F595’s sporty look is a new Record Monza Sovrapposto active exhaust fitted in a configuration of four pipes – two on each side, vertically stacked.

This exhaust system can be controlled via a Scorpion button on the dash to increase or decrease the sound the F595 produces.

The Scorpion mode selector is also able to adjust the power steering and engine response for a more sporty feel when desired.

17-inch alloys are equipped, too, along with F595 badges on the rear and sides.

Interior

Inside, the Abarth is fitted with a leather steering wheel and leather seats as standard.

Along with this is a new black infotainment system frame and matt black dashboard – creating an all-black interior design.

Its 7-inch infotainment system then features both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as standard.
