Hyundai South Africa has listed the Palisade 7-seater and 8-seater SUV on its website.
The Palisade slots in at the top of the Hyundai SUV range, with the two derivatives both costing R999,900.
Very few features separate the two models, with only one seat and a few chair-related abilities setting apart the siblings.
Features
The Hyundai Palisade is a large family-SUV with either seven seats or eight seats, all covered in artificial leather.
On both, the front seats are electrically adjustable and the first two rows are heated. The seven-seater configuration then gets first and second-row seat ventilation, too.

Passive safety features in the Palisade include blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, a rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and rear-seat safe exit assist that scans the road behind the SUV to warn the rear passengers if it’s not safe to open a door.
Active safety is then taken care of through ABS with downhill brake control, trailer stability assist, and hill start assist.
Performance
The Hyundai Palisade is driven by a 2.2-litre, turbo-diesel engine paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The motor delivers 142kW and 440Nm to all four wheels, and allows the SUV to sprint to 100km/h in 10.5 seconds.
Combined fuel consumption is rated at 8.2l/100km for both models, braking from 100-0km/h takes 43.1 metres, and top speed is pinned at 190km/h.
The Palisade measures 4,980mm long, 1,975mm wide, and 1,750mm tall; provides 203mm of ground clearance; and the models weigh 2,670kg and 2,690kg, respectively.
A big benefit of the flagship Hyundai SUV’s large size is practicality, as it offers a payload capacity of 718 litres, a maximum braked towing capacity of 2,200kg, and a roof carrying capacity of 100kg.
