Rubicon Group has started selling Tesla Wall Connector electric car chargers in South Africa.
The company also distributes the Tesla Powerwall in the country.
According to Tesla, the Wall Connector is the most convenient charging solution for homes, hospitality properties, and workplaces.
Specifications
The Tesla Wall Connector is reported to add up to 71km of range per hour of charging to a car – model dependent – and offers various charging settings.
It also has a durable design for both indoor and outdoor use.
The charger features power-share capabilities, too, which allows the management of available power sources to automatically distribute enough current to multiple wall connectors to charge multiple cars simultaneously.
The Tesla Wall Connector is compatible with several electric vehicles currently sold in South Africa, said Rubicon.
Currently, the fully-electric vehicles on offer in the country are the BMW i3, Jaguar I-Pace, Mini Cooper SE, Porsche Taycan, and Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge.
Tesla said the Wall Connector is also developed to adapt to a wide range of home electrical systems, with customisable power levels for different circuit breakers.

- Wi-Fi connectivity

- Maximum 32A output
- Built-in grid spike protection
