Mahindra has launched a special edition of the Pik Up bakkie – the Pik Up Karoo Dusk S11 – which will be available in South Africa in “extremely limited numbers”.
The new bakkie is fitted with the most premium parts in the Mahindra catalogue, as well as a few of its own exclusive additions not found on any other model.
New styling
The Karoo Dusk is a “lifestyle-focused” double cab wrapped in a hard-wearing matte black film, making it the only bakkie in the country with a wrapped exterior straight from the factory, according to Mahindra.
The standard S11’s styling bar in the load box, steel side steps, over fenders, and roller shutter door were colour coded to match the exterior, too, while silver highlights on the front, a diamond plated rear step, and silver trimmed 17-inch wheels provide contrast elements.
“The alloys are fitted with special mud terrain tyres from General Tire that adds an aggressive tread profile and additional visual appeal to this unique bakkie,” said Mahindra South Africa.
Alongside these cosmetic changes, the Karoo Dusk is fitted with bespoke overlanding bumpers that increase the bakkie’s approach and departure angles, as well as add extra recovery loops and mounting points.
Under the shell of this Mahindra, you will also find a specially-developed off-road suspension system featuring heavy-duty, gas-filled shock absorbers, custom leaf springs, and new suspensions bushes.
“While these upgrades do not change the Karoo Dusk’s ground clearance [210mm], they ensure faultless performance on dirt, rock, sand and mud, while not adversely affecting its road manners,” said the company.
Features
As standard, the Karoo Dusk S11 offers a touchscreen infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, climate control, a multifunction steering wheel, and all-round electric windows.
In addition, this special-edition model comes with a lockable roller-shutter door and a rubberised rear load bay.
Powering the bakkie is then a 2.2-litre, turbo-diesel engine generating 103kW and 320Nm.
The motor connects to a six-speed automatic transmission that directs power to all four wheels, which assures an 8.1l/100km fuel consumption, a maximum payload capacity of 995kg, and a maximum braked towing capacity of 2,500kg.

The Mahindra Pik Up Karoo Dusk S11 has a South African price of R549,999.
Each purchase includes a 4-year/120,000km warranty and a 5-year/90,000km service plan.
