Toyota is perceived as the most reliable vehicle brand in South Africa – easily beating its rivals.
This is according to the TopAuto 2021 Automotive Survey, which saw 1,459 TopAuto readers answer a range of motoring questions.
One of the questions put to survey respondents was which brand they viewed as the most reliable.
Toyota took first by a big margin here, while VW and Honda battled for second and third place, respectively.
Mercedes-Benz took fourth place for this question, with BMW close behind it in fifth.

Toyota took another first place in the next brand-perception question, which was based on the readers’ perceived value-for-money factor of a vehicle make.
Toyota was seen as offering the best value for money, followed by Haval in second place. The result coincides with an increase in new vehicle sales for Haval in South Africa in 2021.
Hyundai took third spot in the ranking, followed by VW in fourth place.

Toyota and VW did not sit at the top for all rankings, however, as was the case when readers were asked which vehicle brand they viewed as the most desirable.
The Germans topped the ranking here, with Mercedes-Benz (which includes Mercedes-AMG models in this case) taking first place.
It was followed by Porsche in second and BMW in third – which beat the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin.
