New Renault Duster – South African pricing and specifications

Renault has updated the popular Duster SUV with a new design, more features, and a R10,000 higher starting price.

The Duster now starts at R337,900 in South Africa and brings with it a host of standard equipment that makes it an attractive choice in a bustling segment.

What’s new

The exterior of the Renault Duster underwent minor tweaks for this inter-generational update, with this model set apart from the outgoing one through updated headlights with daytime running lights, LED tail lights, a new rear spoiler, a wider rear, and redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels.

Along with the redesign, a fresh palette of exterior paints is on offer – comprising Comet Grey, Highland Grey, Iron Blue, Brown Vision, Fusion Red, Arizona Orange, and Ice White.

In terms of off-road credentials, the Duster boasts a class-leading 210mm of ground clearance, a 30-degree approach angle, and a 34-degree departure angle.

It can also carry up to 478 litres of cargo in five-seater mode, while “high-quality” fabric seats are fitted inside to increase durability.

Model-dependent leather seats can then be fitted as an optional extra for R10,088.

Standard features for the updated Renault include on-board navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, cruise control, and an 8-inch infotainment display.

It is fitted with a host of safety systems, too, including ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, and emergency brake assist.

Additionally, certain models get rear parking sensors and hill start assist.

Engines

Driving the updated Duster is a 1.5-litre, turbo-diesel engine in various configurations.

The 4×2, five-speed manual specification produces 66kW and 210Nm, with combined fuel consumption rated at 5.1l/100km.

The 4×2, six-speed, dual-clutch automatic produces 80kW and 250Nm, while the 4×4 manual generates 80kW and 260Nm.

Combined fuel consumption for the latter variants starts at 4.8l/100km.
