Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition launched – Starting at R1.9 million

Porsche has launched the “elegant and exclusive” Platinum Edition trim in South Africa, which is available on the Panamera, Panamera 4, and Panamera 4 E-Hybrid.

The Platinum Edition combines “discreet Satin Gloss Platinum design features with an extended list of standard equipment”, and starts at R1,929,000.

Platinum Edition features

The equipment list in the Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition is made up of “highly sought-after options with high customer benefits,” said Porsche, with many top-end features making their way onto these models as standard.

This includes adaptive air suspension with active suspension management, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, LED matrix headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus, a panoramic roof,  and park assist with a reverse camera.

The 4 E-Hybrid model also gets an onboard AC charger with 7.2kW charging power.

In terms of looks, these exclusive models are visually set apart from their siblings by black sports tailpipes, window trims in high-gloss black, Exclusive Design taillights, platinum air outlets and badges, and platinum-painted, 21-inch Exclusive Design Sport wheels.

Inside, the Panamera Platinum Edition gains a variety of luxurious options at no additional cost, with an analogue clock headlining the dash of every model.

These Porsches are treated to the GT sports steering wheel with Power Steering Plus, soft-close doors with comfort entry, 14-way electrically adjustable front seats, heated rear seats, and a Bose surround sound system.

In addition, the interior also gets its fair share of cosmetic appointments to add to the exclusive atmosphere, including brushed aluminium door sill guards, Platinum Edition logos, and the Porsche crest on the headrests.

Engines

The Porsche Panamera and Panamera 4 are both fitted with a 2.9-litre, turbo-petrol engine, while the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid gets a 100kW electric motor, too.

The respective performance figures for the models are as follows:

• Panamera – 243kW/450Nm, 0-100km/h: 5.6 seconds, combined fuel consumption: 8.8l/100km
• Panamera 4 – 243kW/450Nm, 5.3 seconds, 8.8l/100km
• Panamera 4 E-hybrid – 340kW/700Nm, 4.4 seconds, 2.2l/100km, electric range: 55km

The standard Panamera drives only the rear wheels while the rest drives all four, with each configuration connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The local pricing for the Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition, as provided by Porsche South Africa, is:

These prices include a 3-year/100,000km DrivePlan Maintenance Agreement, which can be extended to 5 years for an additional fee.
