Updated Honda Amaze – Pricing and specifications

Honda has updated the Amaze sedan in South Africa with revised styling, an improved interior, and a new infotainment system.

The sedan can be bought in two specifications – Trend and Comfort – with one engine and two transmission options on offer.

The starting price for the Amaze remains unchanged at R209,100.

What’s new

The updated Amaze features a new grille, halogen headlights, LED tail lights, a redesigned rear bumper with more chrome accents, and alloy wheels as standard.

Inside, the Honda is now fitted with all-black upholstery which replaces the black and beige two-tone look from before.

The entry-level Trend model then receives a multifunction steering wheel, AM/FM radio with Bluetooth, a four-speaker sound system, manual air conditioning, central locking, and electrically-adjustable wing mirrors.

The more expensive Comfort adds colour-coded mirrors and door handles, LED fog lights, 15-inch diamond-cut wheels, automatic air conditioning, speed-dependent door locks, and a 7-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

For the models with the CVT, gearshift paddles are installed behind the steering wheel, too.

“Thanks to a wheelbase that is 2,470mm long, the interior offers ample leg and headroom both front and rear,” said Honda.

The Amaze then boasts a maximum boot capacity of 420 litres.

Engines

The Amaze is powered by a 1.2-litre, petrol engine generating 66kW and 110Nm.

In the Trend, only a five-speed manual gearbox is available, while buyers have a choice between this gearbox and a CVT transmission in the Comfort spec.

The manual sedans accelerate from 0-100km/h in 12.3 seconds and achieve a combined fuel consumption of 5.6l/100km, while the CVT takes a slightly longer 13.5 seconds and consumes a higher 5.7l/100km.

Price

The South African pricing for the new Honda Amaze is as follows:

Each purchase includes a 5-year/200,000km warranty, a 2-year/30,000km service plan, and three years of AA roadside assistance.
