BMW has unveiled the most powerful version of its all-electric flagship, the iX M60.
With a maximum output of 455kW in launch control and 1,100Nm in Sport mode, the M60 sprints to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds while offering a driving range of up to 566km.
It must be noted that the iX M60 has not yet been confirmed for a South African introduction.
Flagship specifications
The BMW iX M60 is equipped with a 111.5kWh battery that drives two electric motors, with an M-specific electric motor fitted to the rear axle that generates “outstandingly high and constantly available maximum power.”
Thanks to the setup, the iX M60 is the first BMW with maximum torque above 1,000Nm, at 1,015Nm in standard drive.
Up to 397kW is also available during everyday driving conditions, while top speed is limited to 250km/h – 50km/h higher than the iX xDrive50.
Additionally, the new M60 sports adaptive air suspension, integral active steering, model-specific rear-axle anti-roll bars, a sports braking system, and 21-inch wheels as standard.
Inside, the M60 is packed with the latest technologies from BMW, including a new generation of sensors and software that gives the SUV the “potential for consistently advancing automated driving and parking functions – with level 3 functionality in the medium term.”
Cabin amenities include a curved infotainment display running the iDrive 8 operating system, allowing over-the-air software updates, cloud-based navigation with “Augmented Reality Video” on the digital instrument cluster, and 5G data transmission via an eSim.
Furthermore, the M60 comes with a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, BMW laser lights, comfort access, active seat ventilation for driver and front passenger, and the heat comfort package that brings seat, steering wheel, and armrest heating.
“The optional Suite interior includes natural leather seats, instrument panel, centre console and door trim surfaces, as well as Gold Bronze surfaces and controls,” said BMW.
Market launch
The BMW iX M60 will officially be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) starting 5 January 2022 in Las Vegas, United States.
The global market launch will begin in June 2022, said BMW.
“The BMW iX M60 is manufactured together with the other model variants of the all-electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing.”
