New VW Caddy – South African pricing announced

VW South Africa has announced the local pricing for its new Caddy range.

The Caddy will go on sale in the country in February at a starting price of R404,000 for the Caddy Cargo, R412,100 for the Caddy Kombi, and R484,200 for the Caddy.

The fifth-generation Caddy will be available in Caddy, Caddy Maxi, Caddy Kombi, Caddy Maxi Kombi, Caddy Cargo, and Caddy Maxi Cargo specifications.

Features

The new Caddy has a sporty exterior compared to the outgoing model, with the range-topping Caddy featuring body-coloured bumpers, black roof rails, and all-round LED lights.

In terms of equipment, the entire range gets fabric seats, one of the new radio or infotainment systems, LED interior lights, and a roof vent for improved air conditioning.

Optional additions include a 1.4m² panoramic sunroof, a removable towbar that supports up to 1,500kg, 16-inch “Wien” alloy wheels, a park-assist programme, a rear-view camera, and trailer manoeuvring system.

Cruise control, LED lights, rear wing doors, the Composition Comfort infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a multifunction steering wheel are also available at an additional cost in certain Caddy models.

Engines

Powering the new VW Caddy range is a 1.6-litre, petrol engine; or a 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel motor – both paired to a six-speed manual transmission.

The petrol motor is only available in the short-wheelbase models and produces 81kW and 152Nm. Combined fuel consumption for this unit is rated at 7.3l/100km.

The diesel engine is available with all derivatives and generates 81kW and 300Nm, with combined fuel consumption coming in at 5.5l/100km.
