The new Suzuki Celerio is now available in South Africa at a starting price of R174,900.
This makes the compact hatchback one of the most affordable new cars on the market.
The third-generation Celerio is offered in GA and GL specifications, with a 1.0-litre petrol engine powering the range.
Equipment
The new Suzuki Celerio is a clear departure from the model it replaces in terms of both equipment and design.
Around the outside, the new model features a completely overhauled look with 14-inch steel wheels on the Celerio GA, and 15-inch alloys and front fog lamps on the Celerio GL.
Inside the cabin, every specification comes with a multifunction steering wheel, a multi-information driver display, a 12V power socket, an auto start-stop system, rear parking sensors, two airbags, and ABS with brake assist.
Furthermore, the range-topping GL boasts electric door mirrors, additional steering-wheel-mounted controls, electric windows, a USB port, central locking, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth – with hill-hold control also being installed on the automatic variants.
Power
Driving the new Celerio is a 1.0-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine providing 49kW and 89Nm.
Both the GA and GL can be bought with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the GL is also available in a five-speed automatic specification.
Combined fuel consumption for every model sits at a low 4.2l/100km, with the maximum claimed range on a single 35-litre tank is rated at 833km.
The new Suzuki then measures 3,695mm long, 1,600mm wide, and 1,560mm tall – making it longer and wider than the model it replaces.
This results in a maximum cargo capacity of 295 litres – up from 235 litres before.
