The Nissan Terra seven-seater has not been launched in South Africa yet, but its official pricing is already available.
The new SUV will start at R596,900 for the base XE specification with a manual gearbox, and go up to R853,900 for the range-topping automatic LE.
The Terra will be available in XE, SE, and LE trim levels, along with a 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain.
Thus far, Nissan South Africa has not revealed the Terra’s features and equipment. Its local powertrain specifications are available, though.
Engine
Driving the new Nissan Terra range in South Africa is a 2.5-litre, turbo-diesel motor putting out 140kW and 450Nm – paired to the buyer’s choice between a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission.
The Terra XE and SE are then available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, whereas the pricier LE can only be had in 4×4.
Combined consumption ranges between 8.0-8.3l/100km for the 78-litre fuel tank.
Each derivative further supports a maximum braked towing capacity of 2,100kg, as well as a maximum cargo capacity between 635kg and 667kg – depending on the model.
In addition, the new Nissan measures 4,900mm long, 1,865mm wide, and 1,865mm tall – with ground clearance coming in at a segment-leading 243mm.
This makes the Terra ever-so-slightly larger than the Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu mu-X, and Ford Everest, which will likely be its three biggest competitors when it officially goes on sale.
The Nissan is also one of the heavier SUVs between these four, falling only behind the Ford, at a kerb weight of at least 2,050kg.
